Career Flight was formed in 1998 to provide bilingual assistance to persons' with disabilities in the field of career planning and job search skills. Under one roof a multitude of programs and services can be accessed to assist job seekers in their career goals. These include resources, technologies and counseling. Career Flight has a wide range of assistive technology devices available for use, and will also provide specialized training on these tools. The ultimate goal is to assist persons' with disabilities find full-time employment without government subsidies. The planning and development of Career Flight was over two years in the making, and was the first of its kind in the province of New Brunswick. Since its inception, other communities across New Brunswick are also looking at similar projects. Career Flight is a true example of partnership, and is funded by Training and Employment Development (TED) and Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) in partnership with Miramichi Physically Disabled and Handicapped Association (MPDHA).
